Legal travel to Cuba might take you to the capital of Havana, but there is so much more to explore on the beautiful island than just the capital. There are 15 provinces of Cuba and each one has a capital. Starting with the western part of the country there is the province of Pinar del Rio. The Guanahacabibes Peninsula is uninhabited and is also a nature reserve located in the easternmost part of the country and province. In the valleys of Pinar del Rio is where the tobacco is grown and harvested. A low mountain chain called the Guanicuanjico lines the lower half of the province from east to west. Along the north coast is sprinkled with cays or sometimes known as keys-small, low islands composed largely of coral or sand. The most popular of the cays is Cayo Levisa. Turquoise waters, gorgeous white-sand beach and coral formations for diving make Cayo Levisa a relaxing visit in your legal travel to Cuba. One of the most scenic drives takes you west from Havana to San Vicente as you ride through the gentle turns with gorgeous views of the sea to the north and mountains to the south. In the city of Pinar del Rio boasts neoclassical buildings, the museum of natural sciences and the fabrica de tobacos – also known as the tobacco museum. The fabrica de tobacos offers guided tours for a small fee or you can watch them roll cigars. Spectacular dancing, comedians and other performers are at the Cabaret Rumayor which is a must see in Pinar del Rio. You can’t spend your legal travel to Cuba near Pinar del Rio without visiting the wonderful scenery of Viñales. The natural splendor of the mountains and rocks give it a feeling of a miniature version of Yosemite. Flora and fauna abound atop mesas and are filled with endemic plants such as the cork palm and animals such as the bee hummingbird.
